Au Bénin, l’Etat, conscient de la place centrale qu’occupe l’agriculture
dans le développement du pays, y a consacré plusieurs projets, avec l’appui des partenaires au développement et des ONGs en particulier. Cependant, les
activités d’encadrement des paysans et de vulgarisation des innovations
agricoles n’ont pas permis d’améliorer la qualité de vie des paysans. Dans la
commune rurale de Houéyogbé, plusieurs contraintes liées aux facteurs de
production ont menacé aussi bien le système agraire que les
habitudes/pratiques paysannes qui y étaient liées. Dans ce contexte, cette
étude se fixe l’objectif de caractériser les incertitudes liées aux facteurs de
production agricole et d’analyser les stratégies d’adaptation développées par
les paysans dans ladite commune. L’analyse proposée s’est appuyée sur une
recherche documentaire, un focus group avec des acteurs et des entretiens avec des personnes ressources issues des autorités locales et des structures de production. En tout un échantillon de 79 acteurs a été constitué. Les résultats obtenus ont montré qu’au-delà de la très faible adoption des innovations et techniques d’amélioration de la production, les enjeux autour de la terre ont constitué un obstacle important pour le développement socioéconomique des terroirs agricoles. De même, une désaffection du secteur agricole, ayant conduit à une reconversion massive des paysans à l’artisanat ou aux métiers à gains immédiats comme l’activité de taxi-moto ou l’exploitation illégale des carrières de gravier et de sable, a été observée.

Abstract
objective of this research is to characterize the uncertainties bound to the
factors of agricultural production in the commune of Houéyogbé, in the Southern Benin, as well as the strategies of adaptation developed by the peasants. Indeed, the state, conscious of the central place of agriculture in the development of the country dedicated several projects, with the support of the partners to the development and NGOs. The activities of framing of the peasants and popularization of the agricultural innovations don't permit to improve the quality of life of the peasants appreciably. In the farming commune of Houéyogbé, several constraints bound to the factors of production threaten the agrarian system as well that the realities farmers whom there is bound. The analysis proposed part of a documentary research and interviews achieved on a sample of 79 actors, people resources and of production structures. The results demonstrate that beyond the very weak adoption of the innovations and techniques of improvement of the production, the stakes around the earth constitute an important obstacle for the socio-economic development of the agricultural soils. It is finally observed a disaffection of the agricultural sector that drove a massive reconversion of the
peasants to the handicraft or to the professions to immediate gains as the
motorcycle-taxicab or the exploitation illegal of the gravel yards and sand.
