Le modernisme a affranchi le monde occidental des dogmatismes et autoritarismes moyenâgeux. Cependant, il a plongé l’humanité dans la désillusion postmoderne, à partir de la deuxième moitié du XX^ème siècle à nos jours. Le postmodernisme se mue en propensions relativistes, appuyées d’irrésistibles pouvoirs technologiques devant lesquels, les normes morales, l’Etat et les organisations internationales se trouvent impuissants. Pour ce faire, cet article vise à revisiter la philosophie antique de référence, dont le pythagorisme, pour en tirer les principes éthiques fondamentaux pouvant servir à recadrer le tohu-bohu du postmodernisme.

Par une démarche diachronique, comparative et analytico-critique, nous relevons que, dans la congrégation philosophique, religieuse et scientifique du pythagorisme, les mathématiques avaient de valeurs éthiques, intellectuelles et pédagogiques. L’éducation musicale était très normative, les gammes et sons sont numérisés. Par sa mélodie et harmonie, la musique était thérapeutique.

En revanche, le postmodernisme est marqué par une désarticulation du sujet se retrouvant dans un mal-être identitaire. La valorisation de l’hypertrophie du présent aveugle le postmoderne sur la prévention. Les chiffres ne sont que des notations des jeux économiques, des cotations boursières, de l’indice de développement, des manipulations mercantilistes. L’esthétique se noie dans le sensationnel. Avec la chirurgie esthétique, l’homme devient un objet d’art. La musique et la danse ne sont plus des cacophonies, de secouements fessiers et mammaires sur des plateaux d’exhibition. Les artistes deviennent les propagandistes de la concupiscence. Ces insanités sont diffusées en boucle, vécues au quotidien par tous, surtout par les enfants.

Il en résulte que, par la rigueur de la pensée et l’honnêteté dans les résultats, les mathématiques pythagoriciennes ont éduqué à la probité intellectuelle, à l’humilité et la collaboration, vertus méconnues par le postmodernisme. L’éducation médicale était accompagnée de contrôle et de sanction. Aussi, le naturalisme et la zoophilie pythagoriciens peuvent aussi servir de leçon aux écolo-sceptiques postmodernes.

Pythagoreans, an ethic of postmodernism

Abstract: Modernism freed the Western world from medieval dogmatism and authoritarianism. However, it has plunged humanity into postmodern disillusionment, from the second half of the 20th century to the present day. Postmodernism is changing into relativistic propensities, supported by irresistible technological powers before which moral standards, the State and international organizations find themselves powerless. To do this, this article aims to revisit the ancient philosophy of reference, Pythagoreanism, to draw from it the fundamental ethical principles that can be used to reframe the hustle and bustle of postmodernism.

By a diachronic, comparative and analytical-critical approach, we note that, in the philosophical, religious and scientific congregation of Pythagoreanism, mathematics had ethical, intellectual and pedagogical values. Musical education was very normative, scales and sounds are digitized. By its melody and harmony the music was therapeutic.

On the other hand, postmodernism is marked by a disarticulation of the subject finding himself in an identity malaise. The valorization of the hypertrophy of the present blinds the postmodern to prevention. Numbers are just ratings in economic games, stock quotes, development index, mercantilist manipulations. Aesthetics drown in the sensational. With cosmetic surgery, man becomes an object of art. Music and dance are no longer cacophonies, buttocks and breasts shaking on exhibition sets. Artists become the propagandists of concupiscence. These insanities are broadcast on a loop, experienced daily by everyone, especially by children.

It follows that, through rigor of thought and honesty in results, Pythagorean mathematics educated in intellectual probity, humility and collaboration, virtues ignored by postmodernism. Medical education was accompanied by control and sanction. Also, Pythagorean naturalism and zoophilia can also serve as a lesson to postmodern eco-skeptics.
