Dans ce présent texte, les auteurs se proposent d’analyser les déterminants socioculturels qui fondent le choix de l’allaitement mixte par les femmes-mères en pays Wê malgré leur connaissance des bienfaits de l’allaitement exclusif. Il est le fruit d’une recherche empirique qui a conduit à la mobilisation de guides d’entretiens et d’observation directe auprès de nourrices, de matrones, de personnel de santé, de femmes détentrices de savoirs locaux et de femme-mères. Les résultats découlant des données de terrain indiquent que le choix de l’allaitement mixte est fortement lié d’une part, aux pratiques
socioculturelles transmises de génération en génération et d’autre part, aux
perceptions locales du contenu alimentaire des compléments au lait maternel.

Abstract
In this present text, the authors propose to analyze the sociocultural
determinants which found the choice of the mixed feeding by the womanmothers in Wê country in spite of their knowledge of the benefits of exclusive breast feeding. It is the result of an empirical research which led to the mobilization of guides of talks and direct observation near nurses, matrons, of health workforce, women holders of local knowledge and woman-mothers. The results rising from the ground data indicate that the choice of the mixed feeding is strongly dependent on the one hand, to the transmitted sociocultural practices from generation to generation and on the other hand, with local perceptions of the food contents of the complements to the mother's milk.
